Information about Year 1
Welcome to year 1! We have lots to look forward to this year. Please find useful information about year 1 below.
If you need anything please email the office via the school gateway or firstname.lastname@example.org
In the front of your child's reading log they have a login for Readiwriter. This is a great resources to help your child with reading and spelling.
Readiwriter- We ask that your child gain 500 points per week on Readiwriter. If they gain 1000 points they do get a dojo for going above and beyond.
Reading books will be changed each Monday and Thursday (as long as they have finished the book). Please listen to your child read at least 3 times a week. The more you listen to your child read the better.
Please leave a little note in their reading log each time you listen to them read. Your child needs to bring their book bag and book in each day.
We will be setting homework each Friday for your child to complete by the following Thursday. This will be set on Google Classroom and needs to be handed in on here too. Please submit the homework by 3.30pm on or before the Thursday.
PE is on Monday and Wednesday.
Please send your child into school wearing their full PE kit on these days.
If your child has their ears pierced, please ensure they are removed on PE days.
Your child can wear trainers for each PE session, there is no need to supply pumps.
Your child needs to come to school each Monday with a labelled water bottle. They will bring this home each Friday.
This year the children will have a 'continuous snack' time, this means that they can have their snack during any part of the morning when they would like it.
Unless your child has paid to have school fruit this half term, please send them into school each day with a piece of fruit to eat for their snack. This needs to be labelled with your child's name.
We follow a cursive handwriting scheme. The above document shows the formation animals we will be using and rhymes that we will use to assist the children to learn and remember the correct letter formation. We will be teaching the children a letter a week in the order of the letters on the document. This half term we will begin by working through the 'ladder' family.
If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to email.
Thank you for your continued support!
