It was lovely to see the sunshine this week and we certainly tried to make the most of it while it was here. The children have enjoyed playing together outside.

We planted wild flower seeds in our flower beds.

This week the children have been busy learning how to tell the time using o’clock and half past. Mrs Bentley was very impressed. They absolutely loved using all the clocks.
To help the children understand time Mrs Fewtrell has been taking them outside to complete some physical challenges using a stopwatch. The children jumped for one minute, ran , hopped and sat still. They realised how long a minute was, sometimes it can seem quite a long time!!

We have also been ordering the days of the week independently using our cutting and sticking skills.

The children have also been writing about their favourite thing about their topic this half term. As well as what they have enjoyed about being in Reception and what they are looking forward to in Year 1.

This week we have been writing our very own stories about mini beasts. We worked in out groups to come up with ideas for or story. We then shared our stories with the class. Because we enjoyed doing this so much Mrs Bentley made some little books. We then had a go at writing a story all by ourselves too! This was so much fun 🤩

Sharing our stories with the class.

Today we talked about what makes us happy. As a class we decided to do lots of things today that make us feel good. We sang, we danced, we played party games, we made some lovely things in the craft area, we chose some colouring in pictures, we played with Lego and the Marble Run. We also shared our stories. We are lucky that some Yesr 3 children also joined us, they showed us some magic tricks, read with us, played with us and helped us to tidy our classroom too! What a happy day 👍

Wearing Green for well- being

Our last topic in Reception is ‘Under the Sea’ the children have already been helping create some great learning areas around the classroom. These include a Beach Shop, Ice Cream Parlour, and an Under the Sea investigation tray.

We hope you all have a wonderful half term and the weather perks up a little. We are looking forward to our Sport’s Day and are excited about our new topic not to mention our school trip too!!
