This week we have had the most amazing Christmassy week and we are so excited to show you our performance of Stable by Starlight next week! Please remember that year 1’s performances will be on Tuesday 12th December. Class 3 children will be performing to their grown ups at 9am and Class 4 children will be performing at 2:20pm. Your child will bring 2 tickets home today (Friday) – please bring these along to the performance as they will be needed for entry.
This week we have explored the Jewish celebration of Hannukah and have compared and contrasted this festival with Diwali and Christmas. We have found out about the significance of the menorah and used a menorah to help us with our addition and subtraction work in our maths sessions. We have also thought about the problems in each of the stories and have been using adjectives on our menorah candlesticks to describe aspects of the story.
We have loved reinforcing addition and subtracting when playing the traditional Jewish Dreidal game – we have enjoyed communicating and sharing with our friends during this game and also experienced some disappointment when loosing all of our counters.
In our language work we have been exploring capital letters and lowercase letters and have enjoyed matching them together. We have also enjoyed playing our letter splat using the computer!
