What we are learning - 03.06.24
A huge welcome back! We hope you have had a great half term and are ready for our last 7 weeks in year 2!!! We can't believe how quickly this year has gone! For our last term we are going to focus on geography and health and well being. Over the next four weeks we are going to look at our amazing country the United Kingdom! We will spend a week at a time exploring each of the four countries that make the United Kingdom; England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. This week we will be starting with England!
In Literacy we will be researching and writing a fact file all about England! We have been using our dictionaries a lot recently to help us with our spellings when writing. This week we are going to use our dictionaries to correct a list of spellings that are commonly spelled incorrectly.
In Maths we have been working really hard on column addition! We have been so impressed with how well the children have taken to this method and have even had a go at carrying the tens and even hundreds over into the next column! This week we are going to use the same method but with subtraction.
In Topic we will be looking at famous landmarks in England, including; The Angel of the North, Stonehenge and the white cliffs of Dover. We will be identifying the difference between town and country and human and physical features, what is man made and what is natural. We are going to head outdoors and make some of the famous landmarks out of natural materials too! What a busy week ahead!
