Y5 Residential to Cardiff 2024

Day 3

The final day of a fantastic trip!

We started the day with another delicious cooked breakfast. A super start to the day, as we were all a little weary after such a busy day the day before! After packing our things, we left the Urdd, and made the short journey to St Fagans National Museum of History.

St Fagans is a collection of over forty original buildings from different historical periods that have been re-erected in the 100-acre parkland, among them houses, a farm, a school and a chapel. The children enjoyed exploring the buildings and learning about how life in Wales has  changed through history.

Whilst eating lunch, we were surprised to spot Rob Page (The Cymru football mamanger). The children, and Mr Price, were very excited by this, and he was kind enough to come and speak with us and let us take a picture with him. Chwarae teg!

After lunch, we started the long hourney home. Sleepy, but happy, havig made some brilliant memories..

The children were amazing throughout. They were enthusiastic, they listened well, they were respectful, and everyone looked after each other.

Bendigedig dosbarth 5!

Day 2

Diwrnod brysur iawn- A very busy day!

The children and staff slept well and enjoyed a delicious cooked breakfast. Blasus iawn (very tasty).

Then it was a very short walk across the road to The Welsh Assembly. After going through security we had a talk about the building and then we walked to see the main chamber. On our way we saw a local AS (assembly member), Mark Isherwood. He came to talk to the children about his role in the Assembly. We saw where The First Minister and the Llywydd sit. Our guide told us some facts about the building and then we went to the old chamber and had our own debates and votes. From there we went back to our accommodation for a packed lunch.

We had a very busy afternoon. Our first vist was to The Principality Stadium. Our guides took us to see the changing rooms, the VIP box and took us to the pitch side. It was a bendigedig tour. Diddorol iawn. From there we walked to Cardiff Castle. It is mawr iawn. Again we had a guided tour and walked all around the site and, of course, we spent some money in the gift shop.

This evening, after tea, we are off to do some bowlio deg (10 pin bowling). We are all excited about that and all feeling quite competitive. We have already walked more than 11 000 steps today. We will certainly be wedi blino later tonight.

Night 2-Bowlio Deg

Day 1

What a super first day!

After a few short pitstops, we arrived at the Big Pit for about 11.30AM.  We enjoyed an early lunch with a view before exploring the museum and exhibits. The Pit was fantastic and gave the children a real insight into the industrial heritage of Wales.

We have just arrived at the Urdd centre and checked into our rooms. Everyone is settling in and looking forward to their evening meal and a fun night ahead.

Behaviour has been great so far. The children have been polite, listened well and have been a pleasure to bring away. Long may it continue!
