Croeso i Blwyddyn 4…
We hope that you have had a lovely summer and that you are just as excited as we are for the new school year.
Here is some information that will hopefully help and guide you through the start of the year.
Firstly, some of the items you will need in class. You will need a blue pen and a pencil for your neatest handwriting and for your amazing artwork. A ruler and a rubber will be required. Also a green pen will be needed to help us edit our work. These can be stored neatly in a pencil case.
Secondly, some information about key days throughout the week. Our PE days will be Monday and Friday and we expect you to come into school in your PE kit, a white T-shirt and black shorts or jogging bottoms. If it is a cold day a Ewloe Green jumper will be required. Please note that earrings should be removed on these days. We will also be having days where we are outdoors a lot so a change of footwear or different clothing may be required, but we will give you plenty of notice about these days.
Thirdly, some of our expectations each week. We expect you to read at least three times a week at home to an adult, this can be recorded in your reading log and brought into school every Monday. We will also be setting spelling and maths challenges on SpellingShed (8 games a week) and MathsShed (5 games a week), these will be set on a Monday and we would expect them to be completed by the following Monday.
Finally, if you are bringing a snack for break time can you please make sure it is a healthy snack and a bottle of water in a reusable bottle, we are a healthy schools advocate.
We are certain you are going to have a fantastic year and we can’t wait to get learning.
Diolch yn fawr iawn,
Mrs Roberts & Mr Griffiths
Oops, one more thing, could you please try and label all your jumpers, cardigans and coats so we can reduce our endless piles of lost property….
Easter DT Project
Y4 trip to Nant BH - Day 1
The children have all settled in brilliantly at Nant, and have had a wonderful first day.
First of all, after arriving, setting themselves up in their dorms, having lunch and getting kitted up, we all went to the local lake for a canoeing session, followed by an optional dip in the water!
Then, after a lovely dinner, we all headed out for a nighttime walk around the forest, looking at the local mining history and burning off some energy!
The children have just enjoyed some hot chocolate before winding down for the night with a film.
We’ve taken plenty of photos, which will be uploaded to the school website upon our return to school!
Nos da!
Y4 trip to Nant BH - Day 2
The children have all had an extremely busy day, and have all been fantastic!
All groups enjoyed gorge walking, challenging themselves and showing great enthusiasm and teamwork. They’ve also been zip lining and taking on the high ropes course, pushing themselves and encouraging each other.
Everyone has eaten extremely well, so much so that the cook mentioned the impressive lack of food waste…even after seconds!
We’re now enjoying the games room here, as well as exercising some retail therapy at the tuck shop!
We’ll upload our pictures from today once we’re back at school!
Nos Da :)
Y4 trip to Nant BH - Day 3
The children all had a brilliant last day at Nant! After breakfast, packing bags and sorting out their rooms, the children took part in some orienteering around the centre in the sun.
After a quick lunch, it was time to head back home!
All photos from the trip should be available to view on this class page on Monday.
Diolch!
