Welcome to Reception. I hope your child enjoyed their first few days in full time school. I am sure they were very tired by the end of their first week. Each week on our class page I will write a brief summary of what we will be learning in class in the upcoming week and I will post a few photos of the children as they undertake activities. I hope you can spare a little time to look at the photos with your child and this will prompt some discussion about what they have been learning at school, what they remember, who they have played with etc. 

This week in Literacy we are looking at the characters in The Oxford Reading Tree Scheme. They are mum, dad, Kipper, Biff, Chip and Floppy. The children read lots of books with these characters during their time in Reception. We will also be practising writing our letter of the week(m).In maths we are looking at the number 0 and we will be counting objects and matching the numbers. In science we will discuss the features of our face and we will be making paper plate faces to put on one of our displays. In p.e. we will be doing basic gymnastic shapes in the hall and using a parachute and the bikes, scooters and hoops outside. In Collective Worship we will start to learn our lunchtime and home time prayers. We will also be learning to say the weather in Welsh and on Friday one member of the class will bring home our class puppet, a Welsh dragon named Dil.  Class 1 is a busy class indeed.
