Summer Term
Summer Bulletin
This half-term, our Nursery topic is Growing. We will explore how things grow, with the children taking part in gardening activities. They’ll have the opportunity to plant beans and learn about the life cycle of plants and butterflies.
In addition to this, the children will create fruit kebabs as part of a fun, hands-on exploration of healthy and unhealthy foods. They’ll discover which foods help our bodies grow strong and fit. While doing this, we will be looking at how fast our heartbeats go up when we are exercising. Timing how many star jumps, hops we can do within a set time.
In addition, we will be using money in our Market Stall role-play, where the children will practice adding numbers together to see how much food they can buy. We will be measuring the children and beans as they grow. We will be using lots of mathematical language, through our activities such as sorting, sequencing of numbers, ordering of days of the week.
We will continue with our Read, Write Inc. (RWI) program, focusing on supporting the children to write their own names. We will also introduce blending sounds together to enhance their reading skills. This half-term we will be writing our names, sharing our own stories and experiences with growing and favourite foods. Retelling our focus stories, which are Jasper's Beanstalk, Oliver's Vegtables and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Nursery will also be preparing for sport's day this term (Thursday 21st May). We’ll explore how exercise keeps us fit and the different ways our bodies feel after physical activity. Throughout the term, we will focus on health and well-being.
Thank you for your continued support!
