Goodbye! πŸ₯²

What a year this has been! Mr Swede and I would like to say a huge thank you to all our wonderful parents for the support we have been given this year. It has been challenging at times but the children have been fantastic! They have taken everything in their stride and risen to the challenges with enthusiasm and determination.
We have both thoroughly enjoyed this year - what a great group of children we have had the pleasure to teach!
Thank you for our lovely gifts and the kind words expressed by many. It will be a year group we will remember with affection.

We wish you all a very happy holiday. Let’s hope September is the start of a more ‘normal’ year!
Best wishes,

Helen McLellan & Jon Swede

As part of our topic about the Romans we have been making Roman bracelets. We hope you like our creations!

Happy New Year! We hope you have had a lovely Christmas. Unfortunately we can’t all be back together again in the classroom so we will be moving our learning online. We will be uploading work onto Google Classroom this time. Below is a link to a video showing you where to find the work and how to log onto Google Classroom. Don’t panic! The video guides you through the process and if anyone has forgotten their login details, please get in touch and we will provide them for you. We have decided to do this as it will be easier for you to keep in touch with us. We are here to help so please don’t worry.

To our lovely Mums and Dads!

We’d like to wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year! After such a challenging year we’re all hoping 2021 will be kinder to us all. The children have been amazing this term! Being new into the Junior department is hard enough but they have also had to get used to new routines and challenges. They have done this brilliantly! We are both extremely impressed at how quickly they all settled and have continued to work incredibly hard. We are proud of each and every one of them!

With very best wishes,

Helen McLellan & Jon Swede

Finally, to all our mums and dads, thank you for all your support this week as we have tried to settle the children into the junior department.

We wish you all a lovely weekend πŸ™‚

Dear Parents/Carers,

The children have been sent home with a reading book and their reading log. This is to be read throughout the week and brought back to school next Monday. They also have a Maths and English Homework book which will be kept at home until the last week of this half term. Homework will be posted on this page each week (please note there is no homework tonight). We will also post any answer sheets so they can mark it independently, with older siblings or mums and dads.

A flu letter has also been sent home (Class 8 will have them tomorrow).

It has been a busy day with lots of information to take in but we hope the children have enjoyed their first day in the juniors.

Tomorrow is PE day so the children are to come to school wearing PE kit.

Many thanks for your help with reading at home and supporting homework tasks. Let's just hope it is a more settled year.

Welcome back!!!

We are very excited to be back and very excited to welcome our pupils back to school.

Below you will find information about the day to day running of the school...we hope it helps.

Pupils will be given their Reading Log on Monday, this will be brought home on that day so parents can comment or sign the days that they have listened to or witnessed their child reading at home (three times a week at least).

These logs are to be brought back into school every Monday for teachers to check on pupils reading habits and also allow pupils to write their new spellings down so they can use them at home.

Homework will follow a similar pattern to the work completed during lockdown- a distanced and pupil-led approach.

Homework books will be sent home in the first week of each half term. Homework will be set by the class teacher using the school website or Google Classroom. Work will be self assessed by pupils at home. If requested by the teacher, completed work can be emailed to them.

Homework books will be brought into school on the final week of each half term for teachers to monitor the work completed at home.

Readiwriter (previously Spellodrome)

Readiwriter is the latest update to the Spellodrome spelling program used in school. It focuses on the teaching and learning of spellings and is similar to the original Spellodrome program used by your child.

Pupils will be taught how to use the software in school, but the majority of work in Readiwriter will be completed at home.

We still expect at least 1000 points each week, please take some time to familiarise yourself with this new and exciting resource...we know the pupils will really enjoy learning their new spellings in a fun and interactive way.

Usernames and passwords will remain the same and log in details can be found in Reading Logs.

Rewards and sanctions

This year we are adopting a new reward scheme for pupils in KS2 that follows the same core principles addressed in the school policy. Pupils will be placed in ‘House Teams’ and will earn points for their house through an agreed policy with the pupils- this will focus on making the right choices and working hard in school. This will ensure a fully inclusive learning environment.

The ‘Dotty Discipline’ system will be used again. This system is designed to be fair to all pupils and encourages pupils to be independent learners. Please reiterate to your child that getting a dot should be seen as a learning is not the end of the world!!!

For clarity on the giving of these please see the back of your child's reading log.

PE Days

Pupils arrive at school in their outdoor PE kits- trainers, black tracksuit bottoms, plain white T-shirt, sweatshirt.

Year 3- Tuesday and Thursday

Year 4- Monday and Wednesday

Year 5- Tuesday and Friday

Year 6- Monday and Thursday

Forest Schools information will be given at a later date.

Thank you for your ongoing support and patience. Please bear with us as we navigate our new routines and new ‘normal’.

See you very soon,

Mrs McLellan & Mr Swede
