Literacy: Task 1
This week it's ROBOT week! Listen to the story 'Harry and the Robots'. If you have this book at home ask a grown up to read it to you. In this story poor Nan gets poorly and ends up in hospital. Harry has a great idea to build his own robots and repair the broken ones and gives them to his Nan to help her with all of her jobs.
This week we are going to look at instruction writing. Watch the video below for an introduction to instructions and what they are. We have written a set of instructions for how to look after poorly Nan, but, the instructions have got a little muddled up. Can you put them in the right order? Can you write your own set of instructions? This can be how to look after Nan or even how to build a robot. The key is to remember that when you write instructions you must use numbered steps, they must go in the right order and they must have capital letters and full stops.
Extra Task - Can you make a get well soon card for Nan?

Literacy: Task 2
First we would like you to watch the trailer for the iron giant. Then with a grown up discuss the following:
What is the giant in this video?
Is he a robot?
Is he alive? Can he think for himself?
Today we would like you to find out; What is a robot? Do you have any robotic toys at home? Can you explain how they work?
Discuss what robots are(any machine that can move and do tasks without human help) and what they do.
What robots do we have in our houses/school? Can you collect all of the robots in your housel? You could send us some pictures of your robots or a video to show us how they work and your answers to the questions.
Extra challenge - Can you find out where the word robot comes from?
Numeracy: Task 2
Now you should know the names of the 3D shapes.
Maybe you have already found some!
Can you use the table below or create your own to record how many 3D shapes you can find around your home?
We have used tally marks before can you use these again to record the number of shapes you find?
There is a song below to help remind you about how to use them and count them up to find a total.
What did you find the most of?
Numeracy Challenge:
