YEY we made it!!! What a brilliant 8 weeks we have had. I cannot put into words how proud we are of the children and how well they have settled into Reception life. Looking back at all of the work we have done it is amazing to see just how hard they have worked, they well and truly deserve a good week off!
This week we have been learning all about ‘People Who Help Us’ and all of their important jobs. We have put our magic ‘future goggles’ on and have been writing what we want to be when we’re grown up, we are going to have lots of fire fighters, teachers and doctors to take care of us! We loved dressing up as doctors and nurses to help make all of the poorly patients better. Some of us are going to make great health care workers! This term we have learned the sounds m, a, s, d & t. We have bee learning how to say the sound, write the sound and sign the sound. Mrs Price was blown away when she signed words and we spelled them to figure out what she was saying! We made the words, mad, mat, sad, sat, dad, Sam and at all by singing them! We have also been writing these words on whiteboards. Over half term see if you can write them out and also practise writing you names!
In Numeracy we have been practising counting groups of objects up to 10, including lots of pumpkins. We had lots of different pumpkins in all shapes, sizes and colours to look at and sort into groups. We sorted them from big to small and heaviest to lightest. We were given the tricky task of counting out pumpkin seeds but Mrs Price didn't let us use our fingers, we had to use tweezers!!!! It was very tricky but we did it!
Next term our topic is Lets Celebrate! To begin with we will be looking at the celebration of Bonfire Night! Remember, remember the 5th November! We will be talking about bonfire safety and using out five senses to write some lovely bonfire poetry. In Numeracy we will be looking at night and day and talking about the passing of time.
Thank you again for your continued support! Over the half term if you are out and about on a lovely Autumn walk please could you kindly collect some Autumn items such as leaves, conkers, acorns etc to bring into school for us to look at? Please continue to practise writing your names and number to 10.
We hop you have a lovely half term!
