Always Aiming High – Anelu’n Uchel O Hyd

Week 7

YEY we made it!!! What a brilliant 7 weeks we have had. I cannot put into words how proud we are of the children and how well they have settled into Reception life. Looking back at all of the work we have done it is amazing to see just how hard they have worked, they well and truly deserve a good week off!

This week we have been learning all about keeping our bodies healthy. In Literacy we talked about healthy eating and the different food groups. The children thought about what they liked to eat (healthy options of course) and made their own healthy lunch boxes. They really enjoyed playing in Supermarket Role Play Area and playing shop keeper. We also said that we have to keep our bodies healthy by exercising regularly. During P.E sessions we have been doing lots of exercise and feeling the effect it has on our bodies. Maybe over the half term you could make a food diary and see if you have a healthy diet or take part in some cosmic yoga.

In Numeracy we have been practising the skill of Collecting Data using tally charts. We have been voting on lots of different questions such as 'What is your favourite fruit'? and putting our votes into a tally chart. We even put the results into a pictogram just to show how clever we are. The best part though was when we got to vote for a soup to try, the choices were; tomato, carrot and coriander or vegetable soup. Some of us chose the carrot soup and the others voted for vegetable. They were both very yummy and some children even had seconds!

Through our Topic sessions we have been learning all about 'Autumn'. We had our very own Autumn area where we used our senses to explore lots of different items; conkers, acorns, pine cones, leaves, and pumpkins. Mrs Jones told us a story about when she was a little girl and used to play conker battles with her friends, maybe you could find some and have a go if you go on any nice walks over the half term. With it being Halloween soon we also did some spider craft and had lots of fun scaring Mrs Jones with them!

First week back:

Literacy - Letter of the week 'i'. We will be having a focus week on Remembrance Day and talking about our own memories.

Numeracy - Number of the week '6'. We will be focusing on the skill of counting objects in a group.

Topic - Lots of Remembrance Day activities and Poppy craft.

Thank you so much for all of your support this term! We hope you all have a lovely Half Term (even if in lockdown).

Mrs Jones and Miss .C.

We cut open a Pumpkin and Butternut Squash to see what was inside. We were so brave we even put our hands in for a feel, it was so squishy!

Our next letter of the week in cursive ‘i’
