What another busy week we have had in Class 1! This week in literacy we have read the story of 'The Little Red Hen' and doing lots of lovely activities based on the story. The story taught us an important lesson on how we should always help each other and how 'team work makes the dream work'. We have blown Mrs Price away with our writing skills when writing about our favourite characters from the story. We also practised using our sounds to create our own booklet about the animals, some of us did this completely independently, wow! We loved playing with the puppets and role playing the story, we have some actors/actresses in the making! Some of the children decided to make their own masks of the animals to recreate the story.
Our key skill in Numeracy this week has been ordering numbers 1-10. The children have done lots of experimenting with Numicon, painting and stamping them in the correct order as well as making patterns. We have also been practising writing numbers 1-10 as they can be quite tricky. Our favourite activity was the lock and key challenge where we had to find the numbered key to match the number on the lock and then open them, some of them were quite fiddly to open so we needed strong fingers to do it.
Next Week -
Literacy: revising sounds m, a, s, d, t. Talking about the people who help us and what we want to be when we grow up.
Numeracy - learning the skill of one more and one less with a spooky Halloween theme.
Topic - Lots of spook-tacular activities!
We hope you have a fantastic weekend!
