What have we been doing this week?
This week has been digital week, the children have had fun using lots of ICT and learning a little bit about how we stay safe online.
It is important that children know that they shouldn't spend to long on digital devices and they need to know that an adult should be around if they are using iPads etc. This week has been a good chance for us to discuss this and use digital devices to extend our learning.
In our language we used the Green screen to perform our poem, Stomp in the Swap. The children did amazing with this, they performed their part and used musical instruments and actions to make it more interesting. Everyone joined in so well with this and really enjoyed watching their performance in front of the dinosaurs on the screen.
In our topic we use the iPads to make our own digital book about dinosaurs, the children used a selection of apps to produce this and they included the information they wanted to. We have learnt a lot about dinosaurs this half term, so this was very interesting.
In maths the children really worked hard learning about 2d shapes, they investigated the properties of shapes and how they fitted together. They made dinosaurs using 2D shapes and experimented with how they fit together.
Next week we will be...
Next week is the last week of our very busy half term, the children have worked so hard this half term and have settled in really well.
In maths we will be learning about ordinal numbers by racing our spheros. We will be thinking about the numbers 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc and what order these go in and how to write them down.
In language we will be thinking about instructions and recipes. We will be making some dinosaur eggs using rice crispies. We will need to write instructions for how to make them and think about what elements are important when instruction writing.
In topic we will be looking back over our journey and thinking about our favourite activities and what we have learnt. We will be looking over our questions and how we found the answers.
