This week in literacy we have been looking at a story called 'A tale of two feathers', which was all about an Owl and a Kingfisher looking for each others feathers. From this story we looked at facts about Owls, and wrote a fact file all about Owls. We learned lots of interesting facts! In literacy this week we have also been busy using adjectives to describe characters from our story and writing our Christmas cards .
In maths this week we have been looking at subtraction. We have been using classroom objects to help us with our subtraction. The children worked very hard on this and were able to subtract numbers all the way up to 20! We have also continued practicing weight by weighing classroom objects and saying if they are lighter, heavier, or equal. Da iawn .
In topic this week we have been looking at Nocturnal and Diurnal animals. We learned that nocturnal animals sleep during the day and are awake during the night and that diurnal animals are asleep during the night and awake during the day. We looked at what animals are nocturnal and what animals are diurnal, we were very good at naming lots of animals! We also learned that humans are diurnal! We also discussed why some animals are nocturnal and why some animals are diurnal. We were very good at sorting out the animals into nocturnal or diurnal!
