Another brilliant week in Reception! This week we have been learning all about Harvest! We looked at lots of different vegetables and talked about how they are grown. We learned that farmers work extremely hard to harvest all the crops to provide us with lots of yummy food. In Literacy we have been talking about our favourite food that we like to eat including lots of tasty fruits! We made the most delicious fruity kebabs with Miss C, we enjoyed trying all of the fruits and even had a go at cutting them all by ourselves. For Harvest this week we have been learning the song ‘Cauliflowers Fluffy’ which we love to sing along to. See link below to keep practising at home, it will be stuck in your heads all weekend 😆.
In Numeracy we have been practising the skill of Collecting Data using tally charts. We have been voting on lots of different questions such as 'What is your favourite fruit'? then putting our votes into a tally chart, then the best part was making a pictogram using the Jit5 program on the iPads. We loved going around the school asking all of the teachers what their favourite fruits are, some of us even got to ask Mrs Dyas! We were really good at using the Jit5 interactive tool, can you use it at home too? See link below.
This week it has been 'World Space Week'! We have enjoyed looking through a space pop up book with Miss C and asking lots of interesting questions such as: How do astronauts go to the toilet? What is the biggest planet?
We made some "out of this world" space arts and crafts including rockets using 2D shapes. We had lots of fun in PE training to be an astronaut and going on a space adventure in our rockets. We loved playing the game ‘alien attack’!
Literacy - letter of the week ‘t’. Looking at the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’ and writing about our favourite part.
Numeracy - Number of the week 6 and ordering numbers 0-10
We would like to say a huge thank you for your kindness and generosity! The amount of food and products that have been donated to charity is just amazing and will help a lot of families.
Thank you for your continued support. We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
