This week we have been busy learning all about odd and even numbers, we have been singing the number cruncher song, we have been for a walk to investigate house numbers and sorting numbers into odds and evens. The children have enjoyed this and are very proud that they could work out if even really big numbers were odd or even.
In language we have been reading the story Little Red Riding Hood, we have answered questions about the story, compared characters and sequenced the story. The children really enjoyed this and enjoyed sequencing the story independently.
In topic we have been learning about man-made and natural materials, what makes them natural or man-made and what materials are either. The children sorted the materials into natural and man-made and went on a hunt around school to see what they could find. We found out some interesting things about how certain materials are made however we sometimes found this tricky as natural materials can be shaped into things made by people.
Next week is our focus week, we are learning all about 'A Midsummers Nights Dream' by William Shakespeare. We will be listening to the play and working around the story.
In maths we will be learning about capacity by making dream potions using different measurements and containers.
In language we will be writing shape poems, using smilies and adjectives. We will be making dream bottles using paint bubbles outside.
In topic we will be making music to accompany the play, we will be choosing scenes to add the music too.
In PE we will be making dances to dream music, we will be performing them to the rest of the class.
