What another brilliant week we have had! This week we have been learning all about ‘at the seaside’. We have loved reading the story of Barnaby Bear at the seaside and learning about how to be safe at the beach. We learned that you must always stay with you grown ups, never go into the sea without a grown up and the rule of slip, slap, slop; slip on a t-shirt, slap on a hat and slip on some sun cream.

In Literacy we have been writing our own sentences about the at the seaside pictures. We used the sentence starter “I can see…”. We all knocked Mrs Jones’ socks off with how many super sentences we wrote and all by ourselves! With Miss C we made our own beach huts to add to our display. We also learned about seaside holidays in the past and how they were much different to today. We couldn’t believe that the men and women went to the beach fully clothed!

In Numeracy we have been practising the skill of halving! We learned that two halves make one whole. We were great at finding matching halves and even had a go at halving numbers! We really enjoyed programming the Bee-Bot to move in a given direction and doing half turns.

This week we have been practising for our sports day next week. Mrs Jones was so proud of how well behaved we all were whilst out on the field. We all learned how to run in a lane towards the finishing line. We all took part in each race and most importantly we all had LOTS of fun! We can’t wait to compete in our sports day next week. Mrs Jones will take lots of pictures and videos for you to watch.

Next week:

Literacy - Transition to year 1! We will be writing to our new teacher to tell them all about ourselves.
Numeracy - we will be revising number bonds to 10

Topic - Its Pirate week! Arghhh, we will be learning to speak like pirates, shiver me timbers!

A huge thank you to the children for all of their hard work this week! We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
