This week we have been busy finding out all about Elmer, the patchwork elephant. In the story Elmer is fed up of being different to the other elephants so he decides to play a trick on them. Can you explain the story to your grown ups? In Literacy we have been writing about our favourite part of the story and drawing a lovely picture. Mrs Price was really happy with how hard we have been working on our handwriting. We have enjoyed making lots of elephant crafts and decorating elephants in lots of beautiful patterns to go up on our display.
In our numeracy work we have been estimating, counting and checking the amounts of elephants. The children then recorded this in their books. With Miss C we have been making our own Elmer elephants using plastic bottles and coloured tissue paper. We worked well in partners and taking turns.
This week we have started learning Christmas songs ready to record over the next few weeks. The songs we are learning in Reception are: Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Jingle Bells, We wish You a Merry Christmas and Away in a manger. Please can you practise these at home.
Next Week: Blackpool Week
Literacy - Letter of the week 'o'. We will be looking at Blackpool and all of the attractions and writing about what we would like to do there. If you have any pictures of the children in Blackpool please feel free to email them to me.
Numeracy - Number of the week 12. Revising the skill of one more and one less.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
