In language we have been learning about diary writing. The children have had lots of fun learning about how to write a diary. They picked a jungle animal and wrote a diary entry pretending to be their animal. The children came up with some very interesting ideas! They have also written a diary entry imagining what it would be like if their friend brought their pet lion to school. The children have enjoyed writing one page profiles for their new teachers. They have been thinking about what is important to them, what people like about them and how their Year 2 teacher can help them.

In maths this week we have learnt about number patterns. The children have had fun doing practical and written activities with number patterns. They have been extending number patterns at different starting points, counting in 2s, 5s, 10s as well as forwards and backwards. The children have also been practising their estimating skills through ICT games and using the ‘estimation station’.

This week we have been learning about Fairtrade. The children have learnt about what it is and why it is important. They had lots of fun taste testing Fairtrade items and non-Fairtrade items. The children have also enjoyed making posters about the importance of Fairtrade.
