What a bugtastic week we have had! We have been learning all about mini-beasts and have even been out on a bug hunt to collect some of our own to bring back to class! In Literacy we have competed our week 1 observations of our bean in a bag investigation. We couldn’t believe how much some of our beans have grown! Some of them have even grown a stem and a leaf! We have also been keeping an eye on Mrs Jones’ bean that we put in a dark place and Miss C’s that is in the sunlight. We were amazed to see that Mrs Jones’ bean has grown bigger then Miss C’s! We have had so much fun going out on a bug hunt. We found lots of different mini-beasts but we had to really hunt for them by turning rocks and logs over. We found worms, beetles, snails, slugs, spiders and even millipedes! 🪲🕷🐌🪱🐜🪰
In Numeracy we have been busy sorting our mini eats into groups. We sorted them into 4 different categories; legs, no legs, wings and no wings. Mrs Jones was super impressed that we were able to do this completely independently! We have loved exploring our bug area and completing our work in our new den. Our favourite activity has to be freeing the bugs that were trapped in the ice! We used hammers to smash them out of the ice, what fun we had! Eira managed to sneak some ice off us to eat!
Literacy: Reading the story ‘Owl Babies’ and competing a comprehension task.
Numeracy: Finding missing numbers and competing number lines.
Topic: We will be learning all about nocturnal animals.
A huge well done to the children for completing another super busy week! We have loved learning about mini-beasts and collecting some of our own to look at. We can’t wait to see what our caterpillars and beans look like on Monday.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and a well deserved rest.
