What a busy week we have had! This week we have been reading the book' Commotion in the Ocean'. This book is full of poems about sea creatures. We had a good go at identifying the rhyming words and did a super job. In Literacy we have been writing our own poems about sea creatures but in the form of a riddle. A riddle is when you give clues to see if you can work out what sea creature we are describing. We wrote some fantastic riddles all by ourselves using our knowledge of the sea creatures to help. Can you solve our class riddle: I have orange and white stripes, I live in an anemone, I swim in the sea, what am I? We had to remember their capital letters, full stops and finger spaces in the work too. With Miss C we had lots of fun making a Sea Soundtrack with lots of instruments, we made a beat of 4 and sang lots of songs.
In Numeracy we have been practising reading a clock with a focus on o'clock and even half past! We are getting really good at reading the time and talking about different times of the day. We made our own paper plate clocks too, making sure that we put the numbers in the correct place. We are beginning to remember that the long hand is the minutes and the small hand is the hour. Can you find any clocks around you house? Keep practising looking and talking about the time.
We have had lots of fun outside. In PE we have practised some ball skills this week as well as getting the parachute out and seeing if we can keep the balls on the top.
We are very sad to be saying goodbye to Miss Williams this week! Miss Williams has taught us so much and guided us on our learning journey with all of her wonderful activities. Thank you so much for all that you have done and being a part of Class 1. We will Miss you very much but wish you lots of luck on your journey to becoming a fantastic teacher!
Literacy - Barnaby Bear goes to the seaside! We will be writing about the seaside for a writing assessment. Can you use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces independently?
Numeracy - Recapping halving skills
Topic - Comparing the seaside past and present
Thank you for your continued support! We hope you have a lovely weekend!
