This week we have been learning all about the festival of Diwali. We read the story of Rama and Sita and found out why it is called 'the festival of light'. We got to taste Indian food, we thought the popadoms were really yummy! In PE we have been learning some traditional  Indian dancing and listening to Indian music.

In Literacy this week we have been creating some beautiful poems all about colours! We blew Mrs Price away with our ideas, here are some of the things we come up with ; as blue as the sky, as green as grass, yellow like the sun and as red a a poppy. With Miss C we have really enjoyed using clay to make a Diya lamp, next week we will be painting and decorating them. We have been super busy making the puppets from the story about Rama and Sita and role playing the story, can you explain the story to your grown ups? We have also made some beautiful Mehndi patterns and building the Taj Mahal too.

In Numeracy we have been using the language of one more and one less in their number sequences. We have been ordering lots of numbers around the classroom and talking about one more or one less of a given number. We have also enjoyed using Bee-Bot. They have been learning about how to program him and have used lots of directional language to get him to specific numbers on a grid.

Next week: Elmer week!

Literacy - Reading the story of Elmer and his colours. Letter of the week 'g'.

Numeracy - We will be practising skill of estimating and counting using Elmer the elephant. Number of the week '11'.

Topic - Elephant crafts and making a giant Elmer!

We hope you have a fantastic weekend!
