What a wonderful week we have had for our Welsh Week! The children all looked fantastic in their Welsh colours and traditional costumes, thank you for your support with this. We have been learning about St David and why he is so special to Wales.
In Literacy we have been writing sentences all about St David. Mrs Jones was super impressed with how many sentences we came up with to describe him. We have had lots of fun playing in our castle role play area where we have been dressing in Welsh costumes and building our own castles. We have also been super busy making lots of Welsh crafts this week making and drawing daffodils using a range of materials. Our sound of the week this week is a super special sound because it has 2 letters ‘sh’. We came up with 15 words that has the ‘sh’ sound in. We noticed that some have it at the beginning and some at the end e.g. shop, ship, wish, fish.
In our Numeracy sessions we have been ordering the days of the week. We have learnt a song to be,p us to remember the order that they go in (see link below). We adventured outside to our amphitheater where we showcased our super singing and chanting of the song.
In our Topic sessions Miss Jones taught us the legend behind our red dragon and how he got on the Welsh flag, can you remember the story to tell your grown ups? We have had a go at designing our own dragons and made lots of dragon crafts using paper plates and making a split pin dragon. They have all been put on display to make our room look beautiful.
