What another fantastic week we have had! This week the whole school have had a focus on Humanities/Parliament week. In Reception we have learnt all about Guy Fawkes and the gun powder plot and why we celebrate bonfire night. With it being Parliament week we decided to find out who runs our country and ask him a few questions. We were so excited to receive a message back from our Prime Minister Boris Johnson, he even knew our teachers names (see video below)! Mrs Jones was super proud when some of us built the city of London in our construction area! We even added labels to show each landmark.
In Literacy we read the story 'Sparks in the Sky' and used our five senses to describe bonfire night; see, hear, smell, taste and touch. The children wrote some super sentences describing bonfire night using their senses e.g. I can see colourful fireworks, I can hear a big bang, I can smell burgers. We also made some lovely firework pictures using black card and colourful chalks to create beautiful patterns.
Our skill in Numeracy this week was looking at different times in the day and ordering our daily routine. We talked about the days of the week and how we have do different activities at the weekend, our favourite was a nice lie in on a Sunday morning.
Literacy - Letter of the week 'p'. We will be writing poems all about the different colours.
Numeracy - Number of the week '9'. Skill of the week 'one more' and 'one less'.
Topic - We will be learning all about the special celebration 'Diwali' and making our own diva lamps.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
