This week we have been learning about the Titanic in our Humanities week. In Language we have learnt about what a boarding pass is and have made our own. We have also acted out what different passengers did whilst on the ship. We have learnt key words to describe the Titanic and the people on board.
This week we have been learning how to tell the time on an analogue clock. We have focused on telling the time to o’clock and have started learning how to tell the time to half past too. We have played games such as what’s the time Mr Wolf to get used to the language we use when telling the time. We have also drawn minutes on a clock face and have talked about what time of day different things happened on the ship. We have also revisited adding this week.
In Topic this week we have focused on the different passengers on the ship. We have explored what the different passengers could do on the ship depending on their ticket as well as learnt about the different reasons that the passengers travelled on the Titanic. We have made Chatterpix about what different people did on the ship. We have also thought about what the passengers might have seen from the portholes and painted this on paper plates. We have coloured in a cross section of the boat.
We will be starting our new book for the half term: Look Up!. We will be using wooden spoon puppets to retell the story. We will also be thinking about technology and sorting communication methods into online and offline.
We will be continuing with telling the time next week. We will be practising telling the time to o’clock and half past with even more fun activities. We will be doing cutting and sticking activities as well as playing board games and games on the interactive whiteboard.
Next week, we will be learning about the planets. We will be learning their names, their order and what it is like on each planet. We will also be writing applications to be astronauts. We will be thinking about the texture of the moon and creating this in artwork.
