Always Aiming High – Anelu’n Uchel O Hyd

Week 1- Happy new year

Our star of the week!

Class 4’s assembly.

Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed the Christmas break, we are very excited for the term ahead and have had a busy week already. This week we have had a magical visitor in class, we have had a fairy door appear.... we think it is because of our new fairy tale topic. They have left a small key and some stepping stones to the door but next week we will be writing a letter to find out more about our visitor.

In maths this week we have been learning how to tell the time on an analogue clock. We have been making clock puzzles, playing time games and setting the time on the clocks.

In our literacy we have been writing our holiday news and the children have been concentrating on reading this week. The children have written some new years resolutions, thinking about what they want to do this year.

As it is our first week back we have been finding out about our new topic and finding out what the children want to do in our new topic. The children have asked some really good questions!

In class 4 we have spent some time practising our assembly ready for Friday, we are acting out the story of Noahs ark and reading out some of our new years resolutions.

Next week....

Next week we will be continuing to tell the time as this is such a tricky skill, we will move on to drawing the hands on clocks and will have a look at digital times. We will do some time problem solving.

In literacy we will be writing letters for our fairy visitor and making wanted posters to see if we can figure out the mystery of who the door belongs to.

Pe this half term will be based on dance, we have some very exciting dances for our fairy tale topic.

In our topic we are expecting a visit from Discovery Dog, who often makes a mess and causes a problem we need to solve. We will be planning and predicting an experiment around his visit.
