What a ‘fintastic’ first week of term it has been! This term our topic is ‘Under the Sea’ πŸ™πŸ¦πŸ¦€πŸ‘πŸ πŸ¬πŸ³πŸ¦ˆ. On Wednesday it was ‘World Oceans Day’. We learned about the importance of picking up our litter, did you know that it ends up in our oceans and is damaging the marine life! Scientists have predicted that if we don’t clean up our act by 2050 our seas will have more pieces of plastic then the amount of fish! We made posters to spread the message to help save our oceans; recycle your plastics, don’t litter and turn off your taps!

In Literacy we looked through information books about the oceans, sea life and the seaside. Mrs Price is letting us decide what we would like to learn about this term so we wrote down lots of questions we have about our topic. Here are  of the things we want to find out; what is the biggest sea creature? Is the giant squid real? What lives at the bottom of the ocean? How many types of shark are there? What is the most dangerous shark? How many oceans are there? What is the biggest ocean?

In Numeracy we have been practising the skill of collecting data. We had to go on a mission to find out what everyone’s favourite sea creature is, the most voted for sea creature was.....the seahorse. Once we collected the data we then put it into a block graph. Mrs Price was very impressed that we could do this without any help! We have been making lots of under the sea crafts with Miss C to make our beautiful display board! Miss C has transformed our classroom to look like we are all living under the deep blue sea, she is so clever! Thank you Miss C 😘.

Next week:

Literacy - We are writing about our special talents! Have a talk with your grown about what activities you like to do out of school. This could be anything from reading, swimming, gymnastics or being a good helper.
Numeracy - Revising money and practising paying for Ice creams!
Topic - Finding out some of the answers to our questions.

Thank you for all of your hard work this week! We hope you all have a lovely sunny weekend β˜€οΈ

We loved playing in the sand and water outside

For forest school the children decided that they wanted to make sea creatures out of natural materials! They did such an amazing job πŸ πŸ™πŸ¦ˆπŸ‘

Our butterflies have all come out, it’s time to release them and say our goodbyes but they needed a bit of convincing πŸ¦‹
