Always Aiming High – Anelu’n Uchel O Hyd

Week 1

We have had a super week back. The children have been amazing and adapted so well to being back in school. We have loved having them all back, it has been a fun week.

We would like to thank you all once again for your support last half term, it has been great to see what the children have been learning at home.

Language

We have focused on news writing in language this week. We have been focusing on our spelling skills. Having a go at using dictionaries and sounding out our words.

We have been seeing what sounds we can read from our reading scheme.

Verbs have been revisited, the children have enjoyed working out the verbs and drawing pictures.

Maths

It's all about the money this week. We have been learning about different coins and how to make different amounts. The children have used pennies and other coins to pay for superhero items in our shop. They have been on a coin hunt and sorted the different coins they found. They have enjoyed doing some coin rubbing with coins and crayons.

Topic

In our topic we have been listening to what the children already know about superheroes using our talking tub. We have had some very good questions about superheroes and explored what they want to learn.

We have enjoyed the story ‘Supertato’. The children have made a storyboard about the story to recount the events in the book.

We have been enjoying putting superheroes in size order from smallest to biggest.

Next week:

Next week is ‘Saint David's’ day. We will be spending the week exploring Saint David and Wales.

We will be thinking about who he was and what miracles he performed.

Making bunting for the Atrium, designed with Wales in mind.

We will of course be sketching daffodils using oil pastels.

We will be learning special poems and songs.

In maths we will be continuing learning about money and how to give change.
