Your task today - can you draw and write the names of the characters in the story in the order that they appear in? Turn a page landscape, write the ordinal numbers 1st to 5th spaced out along the bottom of the page, then draw a picture and write the name of the characters above them in the correct order. You may wish to watch the video on the reception home page or have a copy of the story with you to help you complete this task.
Challenge - can you make a gruffalo crumble following the instructions below? There is a slight problem though...the instructions are muddled up! Can you use what you know about ordinal numbers to follow the steps in order? There are two versions of the recipe on the PDF; one using flour and also a flour free version. The links below are where the original recipes are from.
It may help for your child to write 1st to 10th in order on a piece of paper, then tick them off as you work your way through the recipe - this will help them know which ordinal number to look for next in the recipe (this may be particularly helpful if you don't have access to a printer).
Literacy - Today is all about food! Throughout the story, the mouse talks about the Gruffalo’s ‘favourite foods’. For Your task today we would like you to use these foods out of the story to make a menu for a Gruffalo themed cafe. You could create a cafe at home and serve you very own Gruffalo Crumble, you could even use your knowledge of money from last week to sell your crumble and make some profit.
Challenge - Write your own instructions for how to make your own Gruffalo themed food.
Phonics - You all did a super job looking at the blend sounds and some of you found lots of them in The Gruffalo!
Task: Using the blends you looked at yesterday - can you create some words?
Could you you sort your words into real words and alien words?
