Always Aiming High – Anelu’n Uchel O Hyd

Tuesday 23rd June

Good morning everybody smiley I hope you have all watched the video about the changes at school, are you looking forward to coming back? We are all excited about seeing you soon.

Today's work:

Phonics (ir) Whirl and twirl.

Look in a dictionary, search on line, ask your parents and phone your grandparents to find as many words as you can that have the ir sound. Can you find 15? Write them down and send us a photo. When you write them remember to use cursive writing.

Literacy

The giant in Jack and The Beanstalk says:

Fee fi fo fum

I smell the blood of an Englishman

Be him alive or be him dead

I'll grind his bones to make my bread.

Can you write a different rhyme the giant could say. REMEMBER the last word in line 1 rhymes with the last word in line 2 and the last word in line 3 rhymes with the last word in line 4.

Weighing

In the story of Jack and The Beanstalk there is a hen. A hen weighs around 2kg. Use scales from around your home (bathroom scales or kitchen scales) to see if you can find items that weigh more than 2kg and items that weigh less than 2kg. Write two lists and draw some of the items if you want to.

CHALLENGE

Look on line to find how much a cow weighs and which animal is the heaviest animal on the planet and how much does it weigh?
