Always Aiming High – Anelu’n Uchel O Hyd

Tuesday 23rd June

Numeracy - yesterday you made a shape picture of your favourite animal from 'Commotion in the Ocean'. Today, we would like you to choose a different animal from the story and create a symmetrical picture of it. Challenge - rather than making a 2D picture can you make a 3D symmetrical model?

Literacy - Yesterday we read the story 'Comotion in the Ocean'. have you noticed anything special about the name of this story? That's right....it rhymes!! In fact there are rhyming words throughout the whole story!

"I think we ought to go and take a look....and see whats swimming through the pages of this book!"

Task - Go to the page with your favorite sea creature, mine is the penguins, and see if you can find the rhyming words. Remember rhyming words are words that end with the same sound e.g. land & sand - they both end with the 'and' sounds.

Extra task - Look at the under the sea rhyming words below. Can you make a list of words that rhyme with:

  • Sand
  • Shell
  • Fish
  • Fin
  • Sea
  • Ray

Geraldine the Giraffe learns /i-e/

Watch UK school teacher Mr Thorne and Youtube sensation Geraldine the Giraffe take you on a learning journey through the world of phonics, grammar, spelling ...

Phonics - We were super impressed with all of your a-e words yesterday! These sounds can be quite tricky so a big well done to you all.

Our sound of the day is                 ‘i-e’. – Nice smile.

Task – Join Geraldine the Giraffe to learn about the magic i-e sounds. Can you think of simple CVC words and then add the magic ‘e’ on the end to make the letter ‘i’ say its name instead of its sound. If you have a toy giraffe or if not you could make a Geraldine Giraffe, write all of the i-e words that you can think of on a piece of paper, scrunch it up and feed them to her!

Eg.     Mit   -    mite

        bit    -    bite

        sit    -    site
