Always Aiming High – Anelu’n Uchel O Hyd

Thursday 11th June

Fantastic news that zoos are to reopen next week. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Do you think Boris Johnson changed his mind after receiving some of our e mails? I hope it won’t be too long before we get to go and see the animals. I’m looking forward to seeing the giraffes. I love giraffes.

A joke about giraffes

What do you get when a hundred giraffes walk along the road?

A GIRAFFIC JAM.

             πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Today’s work:

Phonics (igh)

This is a tricky sound to spell.  This sound comes in the middle and the end of words. Can you think of any? Can you write some sentences with these words? Try your best.

Literacy

There are lots of things you can write, a letter, a card, a story, a play, a poem.........but today we want you to try something different, we want you to write a short script. A script is the words that characters in a film or play say. We want you to imagine that 3 animals meet in the jungle. What do they say to each other?

In a script you need to use this funny punctuation mark    :      It is called a colon. Have a look at the script below:

Lion: Good morning everyone

Elephant: Good morning what a lovely day.

Zebra: It was a lovely day until you came along lion.

Lion: What do you mean?

Zebra: You are pretending to be my friend just so you can eat me.

Lion: O no I am not.

Elephant: Stop arguing you two.

That is an example of how to write a script. Now you have a go and remember to use punctuation, make your script as exciting as you can and illustrate it with some lovely drawings.

Numeracy

Imagine you are the zoo keeper and you have to separate all the animals into two pens because they keep falling out. You have to put half in one pen and half in the other pen. That means you have to share or divide between 2. You will need to write lots of divide sums and work out the answers. You will need to use this symbol:

See if you can use the symbol in these sums and work out the answers. Remember to use the equals symbol too.

4 monkeys shared equally between 2 pens

10 camels shared equally between 2 pens

8 lions shared equally between 2 pens

12 zebra shared equally between 2 pens

18 kangaroos shared equally between 2 pens

6 tigers shared equally between 2 pens

14 red pandas shared equally between 2 pens

16 giraffes shared equally between 2 pens

Good luck. You can draw pictures to help if you wish or use objects to help. Please send us some pictures to show us how you get on.
