This week we have enjoyed writing about and recreating parts of the ‘Treasures in the Garden’ story. We have also been practising our shape recognition (both 2D and 3D). We enjoyed looking at fancy gardens and making our own versions of mazes. We have been developing our problem solving skills, finding different ways to make 10. We have also made Miss Roberts very proud helping her during her assembly about ‘Goodies and Baddies’ by singing a song all about the Bible story Daniel and the Lions (unfortunately the iPad ran out of memory during our performance!) The cheerleaders also showed off their 1st place trophy after competing in Cheerfest a couple of weekends ago. Have a lovely half term everyone!
Mrs Campbell said that we have been like a team of ants this week working so well together and she was right! Forest school involved us making mini beast pictures with natural resources and building a home for mini beasts. We measured the resources carefully to make sure they would fit in the sections of the picture. What started as small groups making little mini beast homes quickly progressed to a whole class effort to make ‘Minibeast City!’ We worked so well to make a huge home, a park and a shop which were all joined together by roads. We worked carefully and safely to move big resources to where we wanted them. We were so proud of what we made and rightly so, and even more excited when the mini beasts started moving in before we had finished! In Numberland we have been sorting mini beasts in different ways and collecting data about favourite mini beasts, whilst in Letterland we have been writing fact books and poems all about nocturnal animals. We have enjoyed ‘digging’ in the ‘garden’ to learn about the Welsh names for vegetables, and also completed super work about the life cycles of butterflies and frogs. A super week for Class 2 da iawn pawb!
This week we have enjoyed learning all about the animals that we can find in our garden. We have also looked at different mini beasts that live all around the world and enjoyed Miss Roberts’ challenge of putting them on the world map in the correct country where they live. We have written amazing diaries in Letterland all about what the ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar’ ate throughout the week. We also made fruit caterpillars with a repeating pattern before writing instructions as a group about how to make them. In Numberland we have been practising adding in our head and thinking about which numbers are more and less than a given number. During PE we have enjoyed ‘Cosmic Kids’ yoga, acting out the stories of Stella the Stick insect and the Very Hungry Caterpillar. One of our favourite things to do this week was play with the ‘frogspawn’ in the water - it felt very funny! We have also made mini beasts to decorate our class - if you look through the window you may see them hanging from the ceiling!
