We have had a super week getting even more into the festive spirit! We enjoyed making reindeer hats ready for our Christmas party on Monday. We enjoyed lots of party games including pass the parcel - we loved showing off our funky moves on the dance floor! In class we have looked at tallying, counting items and asking our friends for their favourite Christmas items. We have also looked at hot and cold items, made yummy rocky road and written letters to Santa using ‘Ga i’ (Can I have). Nadolig llawen to you all, thank you all for working so hard this half term and we will see you ready to rock and roll in 2019!
Week beginning 10th December 2018
Miss Roberts was so proud of every single one of us this week - we did an amazing job performing in our Nativity in the Church of the Holy Spirit! We used really loud clear voices to say our lines, and sang our songs brilliantly - bendigedig pawb!
We really enjoyed wearing our Christmas jumpers on Friday to raise money for charity - diolch for all your donations! We had the chance to show them off on our own catwalk! We have been practising our cutting out skills this week in lots of different ways. We have enjoyed lots of different Christmas crafts and activities too. We have looked at ordering the months of the year in our maths activities, and learnt about different ways of communicating in literacy. We worked in groups to send an email to Sion Corn (Santa) - fingers crossed that we get a reply back!
Week beginning 3rd December 2018
We have started getting into the festive spirit this week! We have had our Christmas dinner on Wednesday, it was blasus iawn! We also enjoyed our Christmas trip to Liverpool on Thursday to watch Beauty and the Beast. We have enjoyed a range of activities around the class based on the story, and have been learning about adjectives in Letterland, using them to describe characters from the story.
Week beginning 26th November 2018
It has been a very busy week in class 2! As part of our initial discussion about what we would like to learn about during our ‘colour’ topic, Oliver mentioned that Blackpool is a colourful place, so we decided we would like to learn more about Blackpool. In the discovery area, we have been exploring batteries, wires and bulbs to see if we can make the bulbs light up like in the Blackpool illuminations! We have made our own version of the Blackpool tower using the blocks and hammer boards, and have enjoyed writing about what we would like to do if we visited Blackpool. We also took a trip up the tower to the ballroom in our P.E. sessions, learning about and trying out different styles of dance after reading ‘Giraffes Don’t Dance’. Bendigedig Dosbarth 2, you have all worked very hard this week!
Week beginning 19th November 2018
We have chosen to learn about colourful animals this week. We have read different stories about Elmer the colourful elephant and written about our favourite parts. We enjoyed making our own colourful birds in the model making area and also painted animals in a patchwork pattern like Elmer. We also had a visit from Key Strings, who taught us about a range of different instruments. They played us songs from the Great War, and they showed us how the soldiers used music to keep in time when marching. Some of us even got a chance to play the instruments! A very busy week!
Week beginning 12th November 2018
As well as thinking about being a good friend as part of our ‘Anti Bullying week’ work, this week we have also been learning about Pudsey Bear and Children in Need. In our numeracy work, we have been using the right coins to ‘pay’ for Pudsey items, and also counting and tallying different amounts of coloured spots. We took part in the School Council’s bunting design competition (da iawn to our winner Evie!) and it was great to see our bunting hanging up in the school hall for lunch. We have also taken part in different Pudsey colouring and craft activities, including making a huge class Pudsey! Outside we tried out some ideas from a Pudsey fundraising story, including making cakes in the sand and playing hook a duck. On Friday, we all got to come into school in our pyjamas and own clothes. Lots of us enjoyed a Pudsey themed lunch, and we all enjoyed a cake and a story at the end of the day. Diolch for all your generous cake and cash donations!
Week beginning 6th November 2018
We have had a busy afternoon in Forest Schools! As part of our special Humanities week, where we are learning all about Remembrance Day, we practised marching like soldiers before making our own soldier models. We had to find suitable twigs and leaves in the outdoor area before binding the twigs together with wool. We used things we found to draw a face on the clay and gave them nice hair dos using leaves! After making our models, we took our soldiers on an adventure, using our imaginations to decide where they went. We also went on a hunt of the outdoor area to see what insects we could find - we kept a tally of what we spotted, then we spoke about the data that we collected. Da iawn Dosbarth 2 - a super start to the new half term!
