Wow! What an exciting first week we have had! We have welcomed two new members to Class 1...Rupert and Eira (Mrs Jones’ puppy) πŸ‘¦πŸΌπŸΆ. We are super proud of them both and how quickly they have settled into Reception life! Also a huge thank you to the children for being so kind and welcoming! They made super puppy sitters, in the morning they sang nursery rhymes to Eira helping her to her fall asleep 😍.

In Literacy this week we read the story ‘Treasures in the Garden’ and talked about what we like to do in our gardens. It sounds like the children all have lots of fun playing outside, some of you are lucky enough to even have pools and hot tubs (I might have invited myself around to join you πŸ˜†). We have been busy exploring our new garden role play area and playing in the fairy garden. Miss Jones made bird feeders with us which will be ready to bring home to put out in your gardens next week.

In Numeracy we have been practising the skill of halving numbers! We really impressed Mrs Jones with how good we were at sharing amounts between two and making sure they were equal. Mrs Jones shared her treasure with us but we had to convince her and tell her when she wasn’t being fair, in the end she shared it properly! We went on a treasure hunt outside and made some beautiful ladybirds 🐞 sharing the spots out onto each wing.

Next week:

Literacy - We will be reading the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and makinmournown food diary’s.

Numeracy - We are going to revise addition and subtraction in a range of practical activities.

Topic - Life cycle of a butterfly

It has been so lovely to see the children back in school and hearing all about your Easter holidays. It was lovely hearing about all of the places you have visited now that things are beginning to reopen again!

Saldy it was Miss Jones last week with Class 1 this week. We would like to say a huge thank you to her for being such a fantastic student teacher and being part of the Reception family, we will miss her lots.

Thank you again for you continued support! We hope you all have a lovely weekend! Hopefully the sunshine will stay with us 🀞
