WOW! What a brilliant first week back we have had! It has been so lovely hearing all about your Christmas holidays, it sounds like the children had a great time and got lots of presents!
This week in Literacy we have been super busy writing sentences all about our Christmas holidays. We knocked Mrs Price's socks off using our sounds to write independently! With Miss C we have been making thank you cards as we are so grateful for all of the lovely presents that we have received. This week we have been recapping the sounds that we know and are sooo good at blending to make words.
In Numeracy we have been learning the skill of measuring. We learned that: measuring means finding the length of an item, you can measuring using anything (as long as it is the same size) and the number one rule - you must always start at the beginning and measure to the end. We have loved using the meter sticks and trundle wheel to measure lots of items around the classroom. We have been using the language; short, long, shorter, longer, shortest and longest. Can you measure items around your house? Remember you don't always need a ruler.
This term in PE we are learning the skill of throwing and catching. We have been practising cupping a tennis ball in our hands and trying to throw it in the air and catch it. Can you practise this at home? Next week we will have a go at throwing to a partner.
Literacy - Reading the story 'The Messy Magpie' and learning all about recycling
Numeracy - Looking at money and its value - 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p
Topic/Science - Learning about materials and describing how they feel.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
