Always Aiming High – Anelu’n Uchel O Hyd

Spark In The Dark

Our new topic is Spark In The Dark - how exciting! The children are eager to learn about space, nocturnal animals and light sources. We have decided on some questions as a class that we want to answer during next term. Feel free to read any appropriate related books or do any research activities during half term. Enjoy your week off class 4!

Week 1

What a fantastic week to start our term! The children worked so hard over the half term to create their Guy Fawkes puppets - they look amazing. This week the children have all worked so hard and have began to learn about doubling numbers, sequencing stories and even creating their own firework dance. We have had a visit from the Food Standards Agency who taught us about how to keep our food safe to eat - by ordering it correctly in the fridge and following the 4C's (Clean, Cross-contamination, Cook and Chill). Can I please remind you to read every night (if possible) with your children, even just a couple of pages a night is enough!

Week 3

Week 3 has been a fantastic week, children have experienced lots of new things! Despite the cold weather, we wrapped up warm and enjoyed a fantastic forest schools session. The children have learnt lots about nocturnal and diurnal animals this week, we then created a home for a hedgehog using natural resources! The children have learnt all about odd and even numbers this week and have enjoyed using green screen to share their knowledge. Have a great weekend class 4 - see you all on Monday.

Week 4 -

We have been incredibly busy this week! The children have been learning all the fantastic songs for our Christmas concert - which i'm sure you cannot wait to see. We have also been exploring a new area in PE (gymnastics). Next week, across the school, we have entrepreneurial week. We are going to make some of the children's ideas and sell them to raise money! Can I kindly ask that you support this and if possible could you please send in some pine cones, bottle lids and glass jars with their lids and labels washed off for the children to use to make their fantastic ideas.

Week 6 - 13/12/19

What a fantastic end to our sixth week of the term! Thank you all so much for coming to watch our Christmas concert this morning - we hope you enjoyed it. The children have all worked so incredibly hard these past couple of weeks to; learn their lines, learn the lyrics to the songs and remember the order of our Christmas concert which was so tricky! Well done year 1, as always, I am so proud of you. What a fantastic week.

Week 7 - 20/12/19

What a fantastic last week to this term! The children have enjoyed lots of Christmas activities and we even had a letter back from Santa Claus - he is so impressed with class 4. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year. Mrs Selby and I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for our lovely cards and gifts, thank you so much! I will not be setting homework over Christmas - instead, your child has 'adopted' an animal to read to each night. They can keep the animal and read to them as much as they like. Don't forget, children can read home books too and record their reading within their reading record.
