Literacy - This weeks story is ‘Comotion in the Ocean’. In this story we meet lots of creatures in the deep blue sea, some of them in the very depths of the sea! They come in all shapes, sizes and colours. 

 

Todays task - HELP!!! I have started writing some of the types of creatures you will find in the story, but I can’t remember how to spell them! Can you help me to complete the spellings by using your sounds. Some are quite tricky so use the story to help. 

 

Extra task - Draw each creature that we have completed the spellings for and add some adjectives to describe them.

Our sound of the day is    ‘a-e’   -      Make a cake. 

 

Task – Watch the video above to see what words have the a-e sound. Can you think of simple CVC words and then add the magic ‘e’ on the end to make the letter ‘a’ say its name instead of its sound.

 

Eg.     Mat   -    mate 

          cap    -    cape

          dat    -    date


 

Numeracy - choose your favourite animal from the story and make a picture using as many different types of shapes from the list below as you can!

 

triangle,

circle,

oval,

square,

rectangle,

pentagon,

hexagon.

 

Challenge - can you use an octagon?! (An 8 sided shape) To help you remember it's name think of an OCTopus has 8 legs...an OCTagon has 8 sides!
