Non-chronological report 19-10-20

During this week we will be putting together a double page spread all about the savannah using the notes and paragraphs writing from last week.

To start set up your page roughly into 6/7 boxes (do it faintly as they may need adjusting).

Then write title and the introduction.

Examples of double page spread.

This is the art work for today, if you don't have paint you could use black tea or coffee instead.

Weather and Climate

Today your task is to research the weather on the savannah by making notes and then write into a paragraph. You could include a graph showing temperature or rainfall and even create  a comparison with weather here in Wales.

Finally for this work you will need to do a concluding paragraph - maybe look at the effect of tourism, hunting, weather on the Savannah.

Ducksters -science - biomes is a good website.

Fauna (plants) of the Savannah

To continue with the research on the savannah you will need this time to find out about the varieties of plants and how they have adapted to survive in the environment e.g. long roots.

Use different websites and make notes - the key words as we have in class.

Then write a paragraph in your own words. you can include pictures or charts.

Animals in the Savannah

In class we have been researching different types of animals in the savannah.

Can you find some examples from each of the animal groups (mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, insects) who live in the African Savannah?

Choosing one of the animals you have found above, we would like you to find out more details about one specific animal. Please research -

  • Animal name (scientific name)
  • Age (life span)
  • Size (weight/mass, length/height)
  • Diet (Carnivore/Omnivore/Herbivore)
  • Special skills used to survive (eg - camouflage/speed/size/strength/hunts in packs, etc)
  • Interesting facts???

Finally, create a paragraph about your chosen animal describing it in detail.

Example - African Hunting Dog
