Blwyddyn 6
Welcome to Year 6 / Croeso i Blwyddyn 6!
Below you will find information about the day to day running of Year 6...we hope it helps.
PE:
Monday and Wednesday.
Pupils arrive at school in their outdoor PE kits - trainers, black tracksuit bottoms/shorts, plain white T-shirt, plain black sweatshirt (school jumpers can be worn).
Earrings are ideally removed before school hours. Please send in plasters if earrings cannot be removed.
Afterschool Clubs:
Children are asked to come to school in normal uniform and to bring the PE kit with them. Children are given the opportunity to change after school, before the club starts. School PE kit is to be worn.
At Home:
Spelling - Set Monday, to be practised throughout the week at home and in school.
Maths - Timetables will be practised throughout the week and use of J2Blast is encouraged at home.
Welsh Mascot - The class Welsh Mascot will be sent home with a different child every Friday, all help and guidance will be available on Google Classroom.
Reading - Children in year 6 are expected to read three times a week minimum. If a child reads more than three times a week, they will be award with a Dojo. Reading Logs need to be signed by a parent and be brought in on MONDAYS. We ask that reading logs are brought to school daily, for teachers to sign during Guided Reading sessions.
Snack - Snacks brought into school should be healthy (a piece of fruit or vegetable).
Bottles - Water bottles to be brought into school daily, filled only with water.
Pencil cases - Pencil cases brought into school daily, with a blue pen, green pen, pencil, ruler, sharpener and rubber.
Google Classroom- Information and work will be shared using this platform daily. This is a vital resource for pupils in Year 6.
Outdoor learning - Outdoor learning days will be timetabled regularly throughout the year. Children may need to bring in a spare pair of trainers/wellies. Please ensure your child has a warm, waterproof coat and hats and gloves when necessary. Outdoor learning sessions take place in all weather conditions. Further information will be provided in advance of these sessions.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
