Welcome to your new year group! We have lots to look forward to this year. Please find useful information about year 2 and 3 below. Reminders and events will be posted on Google Classroom! You should have received your child's Hwb username and password, please keep these at home, in a safe place.
If you need anything please speak to us at the door or call/email the office via the school gateway or

Dojos
We use a really exciting reward scheme
- children are given dojos for a range of achievements and being a great friend. Each week we will recognise a child and award a dojo champion of the week.
Spellings
Spellings will be put on Google Classroom each Monday (year three children will also write them down). These are the spelling patterns we are learning in class and if possible we would like you to learn them at home too. There will be no spelling test but lots of spelling games and challenges in class to consolidate this.
Reading
Reading books will be changed on Mondays and Thursdays (only if children have finished reading the book). Please return your child’s reading book and reading log each day. Please aim to read with your child at least 3 times a week if you can (even if it's just one or two pages). The more you read, the better! Dojos will be awarded to those children who read four or more times a week!
Once your child has finished their book it would be great if you could ask them questions about it, this will help to develop their comprehension skills. Every time you hear your child read please can you
make a note in their reading log.
Reading regularly helps your child to develop their confidence and love of reading, their phonic knowledge and it also supports their writing. We will award dojos for regular home reading!
P.E
PE is on Tuesday and Wednesday until Christmas and then revert to a Tuesday and a Thursday after Christmas.
Please send your child into school wearing their full PE kit on these days, you do not need to bring pumps into school, trainers are fine. Please ensure that your child can fasten their own shoes.
If your child has their ears pierced, please ensure they are removed on PE days or covered up with plasters. Long hair to be tied up too please.
Drinks, snack and lunch
Please could you order your child's meal via the schoolcomms app each morning.
We ask that your child comes to school with a labelled water bottle on a Monday and these will be returned home on a Friday for a deep clean. We will fill and rinse them in school each day. If you wish to take your bottle home each day then that is great!
Please send your child in with a healthy snack each day. Please label your child's snack as these will be put into the class snack box.
Labelling
Please make sure uniform, bags, book bags, coats, snack boxes, drinks bottles and lunch boxes are clearly marked with your child's name. This helps children keep track of their belongings and become more independent.
