Our star of the week goes to Euan, well done Euan! 1

The last week before half term has been very busy.

What have we been doing this week?

This week in maths we have been learning all about doubling objects and numbers to 10. We have been using mirrors to see what doubling looks like using pomp oms. We have continued our work using the spheros to direct them to the answers to double sums.

In literacy we have been reflecting on our learning throughout our ‘Spark in the Dark’ topic and have completed our own evaluations. We have discussed what we’ve learnt, which activities we’ve enjoyed and we’ve set ourselves new targets for next half-term. We have also been creating our own passports to allow us to travel to space.

In science we have planned and carried out an investigation into which materials are best to wear when walking outside in the dark.

In PE we have been relaxing to some space yoga, using interesting shapes and relaxing music.

In our art work we have been drawing and designing our very own space rocket.

In circle time we have been discussing internet safety and how we keep safe online.

What will we be doing next half term?

We return to school on Monday 19th February and will be starting a new topic called ‘Once upon a time…’

We will spend our first week exploring the new role-play area ‘The Three Bears Cottage’, planning what we’d like to learn about in our new topic and writing about our news from our half term break.

In maths, we will be moving on to looking at adding three numbers.

We will also be learning about Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday and discussing the meaning of Lent.

A reminder that we will have Forest Schools on Thursday 22nd February, so please remember warm clothes, wellies and a change of clothing.
