What have we been doing this week?

This week we have been busy using the Ipads to make Story Buddies and Lego Movies about the life cycle of the Butterfly, we had some very impressive movies to watch by the end of it. We have been preparing and planting in our allotment.

In Maths we have been learning all about symmetry, we have been completing the other side of symmetrical pictures and finding the lines of symmetry on shapes.

We have been on a hunt around the school for symmetrical objects.

In our topic we have been researching about fruits and vegetables that we eat, we have been sorting them into categories of which part of the plant it is that we eat.

We have been reading The Tiny Seed and drawing the different stages of a plant growing. We have also had an interesting week watching out caterpillars turn into chrysalis and recording this in our butterfly diaries.

In forest school we have made homes for the butterflies, ready for when we set them free. We had some very creative houses.

What will we be doing next week?

Next week we will be thinking about how the caterpillar felt in the story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ we will be writing a dairy as if we were the caterpillar. The children will be learning about alliteration and will be finding alliteration to describe the caterpillar’s food.

In maths we will be learning all about our 2D shapes and the different properties they all have, the children will be solving shape problems. They will be programming the Spheros to travel around the shapes.

We will be getting creative and making butterfly collages in our art books, still thinking about symmetry. We will be thinking about different countries and what kind of foods grow and what kinds of foods are eaten in different countries.
