This week we have been very busy investigating our new topic, ‘Growing’. We have found out what the children already know about the topic and what they would like to find out. They have come up with some very interesting questions for us to investigate and find out. In maths we have been learning all about weight, we have been using the scales to find out what objects are heavier and lighter. We have been finding out how many beans it takes to balance the scales, against gardening objects.
In language we have been reading the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ we have made story boards to re-tell the story. We have also been busy writing our Easter holiday news.
Next week we will be starting to answer some of our topic questions, we will be labelling parts of the plant and finding out what a plant needs to grow. The children will be exploring and learning how to use our new role play area.
In language we will be answering questions about the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. In our maths we will be learning our number bonds to 10 and 20. We will be having to work out number bonds to get Jack to the top of the beanstalk. The children will be going outside to make number bonds with natural objects and chalk. In circle time we will be talking about working together and putting the needs of others before your own sometimes. In music we will be making different music to go with different parts of the story.
