Happy New Year!
Well done to the children for their lovely thank you letters after Christmas.
What have we been doing this week?
We have really enjoyed sharing our Christmas news with the rest of our class. We’ve written about our Christmas news and have made New Year’s resolutions. Amongst others, we have decided we are going to tidy our bedrooms more often, read more, and be kinder to our brothers and sisters. In the Space Centre, we have been role-playing interviews between journalists and astronauts, putting together puzzles of our solar system and making our own papier mache planets.
In maths, we’ve started to learn to tell the time. We can read time to the hour and half past, and some of us have masted quarter past too! We’ve had a go at matching analogue times to digital times. In welsh, we’ve played ‘Faint o’gloch’ bingo and ‘Faint o’r gloch ydy hi, Mr Blaidd?’ (what’s the time Mr Wolf?) and we’ve been building Big Ben in the blocks area.
In PE we have started gymnastics, we enjoyed making angry cat and happy cat shapes.
What will we be doing next week?
Next week we are reading the story ‘The Dinosaur that Pooped a Planet’ and making our own story map about the book to perform. We will be sharing our opinions of the story and writing our own book review, thinking about the characters and creating character descriptions/profiles.
In maths we will be continuing with our work on telling the time (on an analogue and digital clock).
We have Forest Schools next Thursday. Please remember to wear your forest school clothes to school and bring wellies and spare clothes in a bag with your name on.
Don’t forget to bring items into school, along with £2, on Monday in exchange for tokens to be used at our ‘Swishing’ event after school on Thursday.
