This week's 'Star of the Week' is Millie! 1

Forest Schools - Creating jungle animal footprints and trails

What have we been doing this week?

This week we have had a very busy week! We have had sports day, forest school, and all our other activities. Sports day was fun with a sprint, egg and spoon race and the beanbag race. We have been learning all about health and well-being this week, thinking about what food makes us healthy and what we can do to keep healthy. We thought about what makes us happy and why it is important to lead a healthy lifestyle.

In literacy we have been making up sentences, using jungle animals and making sure we include who, what, why and when.

In maths we have been learning all about 3D shapes, what they are called, which properties they have and how 3D shapes can fit together.

During forest school we made animal footprints and trails, the children were very imaginative and even went hunting for snakes.

The children have done very well this week with sports day and all of their other activities, so a big well done!

What will we be doing next week?

Next week we will be getting stuck into our topic work and finding out what the children know and what they want to learn about their new topic ‘Rumble in the Jungle’. We will be reading the story of ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ and hot seating the characters. We will be looking at the descriptive language they use and trying to come up with our own adjectives, similes and alliterations.

In maths we will be learning about capacity, we will be looking at different containers and exploring the capacity. We will be solving some challenges!

We will be creating some art work based around animal prints and patterns.
