What have we been doing this week?
This week we have been thinking about how the Dinosaur would feel during his trip to space and we have written a diary entry as if we were him. We investigated how a diary is written and what we would need to include.
In maths we have had a very exciting week and have used our new Spheros, controlling them from the sun to the planets and then measuring how far they travelled in cubes or cm, we even estimated the distance first.
In our topic we have been investigating stars and constellations, the children have written about constellations and have even made their own constellation and given it a name.
We have been out on forest schools this week and have been measuring and ordering sticks.
In circle time we have read the story of ‘The Good Samaritan’ and discussed how we can help people.
What will we be doing next week?
In our last week of half term we will be learning all about doubling objects and numbers to 10. We will be using mirrors to see what doubling looks like, and we will be having another go at using the Spheros to programme from the numbers to its double.
In literacy we will be evaluating the topic ‘light and dark’. We will be explaining what we have learnt about during the half term. We will refer back to our talking tubs that we did at the beginning of the half term. We will be making our own passports to allow us to travel in and out of space.
In PE we will be relaxing to some space yoga, using interesting shapes and relaxing music.
In our art we will be drawing and designing our very own rocket.
In circle time we will be discussing internet safety and how we keep safe online.
We have had lots of fun in maths this week learning how to use the spheros. We have been using the iPads to control the spheros to move to pictures of planets. We measured the distances that the spheros travelled with tape measures.
We can't wait to continue our work with the spheros next week for our work on doubling.
