This week some of the things we have been doing include...
Language, Literacy and Communication:
Listening to the story of 'Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs'
Writing about a time when we have lost something
Sorting dinosaurs into different criterion
Collecting natural objects from outside and sorting them
Knowledge and Understanding of the World:
Labelling the different body parts of a dinosaur
Listening to the theme music to Jurassic Park and responding
Learning about using the space around them and playing the 'Cat Game'.
Collective Worship/Religious Education:
Introduced the religion Christianity
We all had a great time in Forest Schools this week. Mrs Partridge put us into small groups and gave each group a dinosaur egg to protect. We were set the challenge of using natural materials to build a nest to protect our dinosaur eggs and keep them warm. We collected materials and worked together to build our nests. We're very proud of our builds!
Next week is HUMANITIES FOCUS WEEK, and Year 1 will be learning all about FRANCE.
We will be taking part in lots of fun learning activities including:
Taste testing French foods
Looking at famous landmarks in France, in particular the Eiffel Tower and the Notre Dame
Learning some French songs
Creating the Eiffel Tower using art straws
FRIDAY - We will be dressing up 'French Style'.
Along side this we will be continuing with our Stomp in the Swomp topic and we will be:
Creating lost posters for Harry's dinosaurs using the ipads
Ordering the story of Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs
Using cubes/rules to measure the length of dinosaurs
