Always Aiming High – Anelu’n Uchel O Hyd

Term 3.5

It has seemed an action packed week in class 2! We thoroughly enjoyed our Forest schools session, using a checklist and our imaginations to go on a pirate scavenger hunt. We also built our very own pirate ship, complete with jail cell and fishing net - Miss Roberts caught all the fish at the end! We enjoyed acting our pirate stories in the ship, looking out for treasure and enemies! Outside we have also carried out an investigation to see which material would make the best boat for Discovery Dog. In Numberland we have been looking at using coordinates and using temperature words. We have also loved making our own rock pool puppet theatre; we have made tickets and some of us have written scripts in preparation for a big performance we have planned to take place for next week!

Weeks beginning 3rd and 10th June 2019

We have been loving our new topic of ‘By the seaside’ so far this half term! We have particularly enjoyed dressing up in our ‘pirate and mermaid’ cove - there have been lots of adventures going on here! In numeracy work we have been looking at 3D shapes in a beach hamper and trying to use different coins to make the same amount - we found this job quite tricky. In literacy we have been writing about what makes us happy as part of our ‘Health and Wellbeing’ focus week last week. We also learnt about substances around the home, thinking about which ones are safe for children to touch and which ones are not. We have been learning a Welsh song about scary animals in the sea (you may have heard this at home!) and also have learnt a special song for Dad - head over to the Ewloe Green TV section of the website to see this. We have been exploring the areas thinking about Harri Morgan, a Welsh pirate after reading a Welsh story about him, and designing our own pirates! We also had to the think of a way to keep Mr Grinling’s sandwiches safe after reading part of ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ - the pesky seagulls kept stealing it! We have also enjoyed exploring the ‘green screen’ app - check out below to see what we have done (the last group of children will be making theirs next week).

We have been using the ‘green screen’ app to say what we would like to be and what we would do!
